About Salesians Tanzania_
Our Identity
We, the Salesians of Don Bosco, a community of the baptized, are an international Roman Catholic Religious Order of men dedicated to be signs and bearers of the love of God for young people, especially those who are disadvantaged, Founded by Don Bosco, we live our consecration to God in fraternal communities and faithfulness to the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as disciples of Christ, As active members of the Church we work in harmony with its teachings, making the dream of Don Bosco a reality, As people who are focused on the total development of the young, we are a registered Charity in Tanzania with registration number "1234567890"
Inspired by the apostolic zeal of St. John Bosco, we visualize ourselves as
“disciples of the Lord” consecrated for the education and evangelization of the young, especially those who are disadvantaged in a synodal and the Charismatic style of Don Bosco.
Drawing energy and inspiration from Don Bosco’s motto: “Give me souls, take away the rest,” our mission is to educate and evangelize the young by providing transformative education, nurturing spiritual growth and cultivating a caring community. We are dedicated to serving the marginalized, empowering the vulnerable, and fostering a world where love, compassion, and faith prevail

Our History
The Salesian missionaries came to Tanzania in 1980 as a fruit of Project Africa that was caused by the post Vatican II Council's determination to evangelize Africa more effectively. For the past forty-three years the Salesians have played an important role in the Catholic Church in Tanzania by focusing on evangelization, education and social services, impacting the holistic growth of the young, poor and marginalised in particular. Our impactful efforts extend across several Archdioceses and Dioceses creating positivity in the socio-economic and spiritual growth of the young, including Dar Es Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma, Iringa, Moshi, Arusha and Shinyanga.
The Salesian Province of Tanzania continues to contribute to the development of Tanzania by offering quality academic, higher and technical education as well as offering faith formation and social services in the Parishes entrusted to our care. The implementation of Don Bosco's Preventive System within its pedagogy by the Salesians in Tanzania serves as a compelling proof of its efficacy in nurturing the growth and development of the youth it serves.
